Christopher B. Schwan of Willard, Ohio went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at the age of 64 at Stein Hospice in Sandusky after battling a lengthy illness. Chris was born on April 5, 1959 to David J. and Janice M. (Kraft) Schwan.

He was a 1977 graduate of Willard High School. He went on to study at the Ohio Institute of Photography. He then obtained his Associates Degree in nursing at North Central State College. August 29, 1986, Chris married Pamela L. Gray and they moved to Toledo where he began his career as a registered nurse at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center.

Chris moved back to Willard with his wife where he worked for Mercy Health Willard for the remainder of his 37-year nursing career. He loved to have jam sessions with his brother David and was a talented bass guitar player and vocalist. He enjoyed nature photography and spending time with his family.

Chris never met a dog that didn’t love him. After he retired from nursing, he spent time working at Willard Veterinary Clinic helping to care for the community’s furry friends. He also enjoyed watching the Cleveland Guardians play and cooking delicious meals for his family.

Chris was a member of the Willard Conservation League, the National Rifle Association, and First United Methodist Church of Willard. Most importantly, he loved to laugh. He was always making goofy faces, joking with his kids, and enjoying the lighthearted things in life.

Chris is survived by his wife, Pamela, their children Emily and William. He is also survived by his mother, Janice Schwan, and siblings Jenny (Dave) Kegley, David (Becky) Schwan, and Steve (Valerie) Schwan along with many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition, he is survived by mother-in-law Judi Lawrence, brother-in-law Michael Lawrence (Mindy), sister-in-law Amy Rotenbor, and sister-in-law Tamara Benedict. Chris will be dearly missed by his furry kids Malley, Annie, Winston, Joe and Toulouse.

Chris is preceded in death by his father and in-laws Don and Ella Gray and Don Lawrence.

Family and friends are invited to visit at First United Methodist Church in Willard Saturday, June 3, 2023 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm. The memorial service will begin at 2:00pm officiated by Padre Michael Padula. Online condolences can be left for the family by visiting www.secorfuneralhomes.com.
