Charles Edward "Butch" Rothschild, age 83, of Plymouth, Ohio passed away Friday, February 27, 2026 peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. He was born November 18, 1942 in Willard, Ohio to the late Lewis and Mildred (Smith) Rothschild. He was a retired engineer from the B&O Railroad in Willard, Ohio. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Willard and was the past commander of the Mansfield Power Squadron. He was an US Army veterean.

On March 25, 1965 he married the love of his life Phyllis (Ott) Rothschild beginning a devoted marriage of 60 years. Butch and his wife spent most days together either gardening, working in his garage or traveling to parts unknown. They owned a woodworking business and together they created many beautiful master pieces and enjoyed sharing their work at craft shows. Butch enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips, with fishing on Lake Erie with his son-in-law Paul being his favorite. Butch always said his favorite accomplishment was his family and he always helped and supported them anyway he could.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis A. (Ott) Rothschild, a daughter, Cristy (Paul) Bruner and grandchildren Cristin (Stacey Jr.) Rennick, Caty (Kris) Bruner, Cody Bruner, Charlie (Hannah) Davis, Caitlin Rothschild; sister Deborah (Lee) Fitzwater and daughter-in-law Danielle Rothschild; great grandchildren Elizabeth Rennick, Stacey Rennick III, Olive Rennick, Ember Rennick and many nieces and family friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Mildred Rothschild and son, Sydney Rothschild.

Phyllis, my deepest condolences. Even thought we drifted apart over the years, I thought of you and Butch quite often. He was an inspiration to many members of the Power Squadron as well as myself. I pray you and the family find comfort from your lose.

Phyllis I’m so sorry to hear of Butch’s passing. I always enjoyed our conversations. He was a great guy and quite a personality. The world needs more people like him. He touched many and will be misse. May god be with you and family during your grieving his loss.

Sorry to hear about Butch. My dad & Butch were long time friends as young adults water skiing on Lake Erie to working together on the Willard railroad. Thinking and praying for the family
