Norma M. Kaple, 88, passed peacefully on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Bucyrus Community Hospital, with her family by her side. She had been in failing health for the past month. Norma was born May 11, 1937 to Spencer and Marvella (Cress) Albright of Bucyrus. She was a 1955 graduate of Bucyrus High School. Norma met Grover (Junior) Kaple in 1954 and were married on June 2, 1956. They were married 63 years before Junior passed in 2020. She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church of New Washington and Women’s Rosary Society.
After graduation, Norma worked as a transcriptionist for the Wilkins Air Force Depot, located in Shelby, Ohio. From 1971 - 1986, she was a secretary for St. Bernard’s School and then Buckeye East Elementary School. In 1987 she started to work at Bucyrus Community Hospital in the Medical Records Department and retired in 2011.
Norma enjoyed traveling, especially Casino trips. She and Junior took many bus trips over the years, with her favorite trip being to Nova Scotia. She enjoyed time at Lake Erie, where she and Junior would spend many weekends fishing. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed listening to all their adventures and sharing memories with them.
Norma is survived by two sons: Dan (Jane) Kaple of Attica and Tim (Diane) Kaple of Bucyrus, who gave her four grandchildren: Joshua Kaple of Columbus, Jamie (Scott) Bishop of Chatfield, Danielle (David) Feret of Chesapeake, Virginia, and Amy (Matt) Nims of Bloomville. She also had five great-grandchildren: Dean and Wesley Feret, Hailey Nims, Tyler Bishop and Olivia Bishop. In addition, Norma is survived by one brother; Glen (Jean) Albright of Bucyrus, sister-in-law Marcine Taylor of Powell, Ohio, sister-in-law, Jackie Kaple of Tiro and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Harold Albright, brothers-in-law, Glen Kaple, Robert Schreck, and Robert Taylor; and sister-in-law, Carrol Albright.
The family will receive family and friends on Saturday, March 7, 2026 from 9:15 AM to 10:15 AM at the St. Bernard Gymnasium, located behind the church. Norma’s funeral mass at St. Bernard Catholic Church will be at 10:30 AM with Father Eric Mueller officiating and burial to follow at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery, New Washington. Guests are invited to attend a luncheon in the gymnasium following the burial. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to St. Bernard Women’s Altar Society, Buckeye Central Community Lions Club, or Sorrowful Mother Shrine.
