Rose Marie (Karl) Wurm, age 82, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026, in Powell, Ohio, surrounded by her loving family.
Rose was born in Crawford County, Ohio, to Robert and Bertha (Heydinger) Karl. She spent much of her life in Willard, Ohio, where she built a life rooted in faith, family, and service to others.
Rose attended Providence Hospital School of Nursing in Sandusky, Ohio, where she began her lifelong vocation of caring for those in need. She later continued her education at Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio, earning both a bachelor’s and master’s degree. Throughout her distinguished career as a registered nurse, Rose was known for her compassion, leadership, and unwavering dedication to her patients and colleagues. She retired in 2010 from Mercy Hospital in Willard, where she faithfully served as Vice President of Clinical Services.
A lifelong and devoted parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Willard, Rose lived her Catholic faith with quiet strength and devotion. She instilled a deep and enduring faith in her children and grandchildren, teaching them to turn to the Lord in times of both joy and sorrow.
Rose found great happiness in life’s simple and meaningful blessings. She loved gardening and, for many years, planted an abundant garden alongside her mother at their family farm. She was a gifted cook who delighted in preparing meals for family and friends, and she also enjoyed expressing her creativity through painting. Rose cherished traveling and creating lasting memories with those she loved.
On June 17, 1967, she married Harold “Pete” Wurm. Together they shared a devoted marriage and raised three children.
Rose is survived by her children, Cindy Jacobsen of Powell, Ohio; Tim Wurm of Sunset Beach, North Carolina; and Patrick (Kim) Wurm of Ostrander, Ohio. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Rachel, Ryan, Jack, and Ellie Jacobsen, and Jillian and Caroline Wurm, who brought her immeasurable joy.
She is also survived by her siblings: Kathy (Clem) Kanney of Shelby, Ohio; Diane (Bill) Young of Shelby, Ohio; Linda (Dave) Meadows of Crestline, Ohio; Suzanne (Dave) Stump of Plymouth, Ohio; Fred (Sandy) Karl of Plymouth, Ohio, and sister-in-law, Susan Karl of Willard, Ohio.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Bertha Karl; her brother, Kenneth Karl; and her sister-in-law, Vicki Eppley Karl.
Rose will be remembered for her compassionate heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering faith. Her life was defined by caring for others, and her greatest joy was her family—especially her beloved grandchildren. The kindness, faith, and love she shared will remain a lasting legacy in the many lives she touched.
