Mary Jane Aichholz, age 92, longtime resident of New Washington, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 surrounded by her family. She was born on January 4, 1934 to the late Charles and Ruth (Melroy) Gernert.

A 1952 graduate of Bloomville High School, Mary married her high school sweetheart following graduation on June 7th. Together they built a beautiful family and life on their farm and craft shop, where Mary was a “jill of all trades”. When she wasn’t needed on the farm, Mary worked briefly for CE White in New Washington and then obtained a bus driver certification to drive for Seneca East Schools, a job she held for 33 years and genuinely loved. She was also a longtime member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Attica where she was active in the choir and banner committee in past years.

Throughout her retirement years, Mary never sat still; she could be found greeting customers or whipping up a quick pie at Judy’s Corner restaurant, walking through the beautiful flowers and plants in Nancy’s Perfections greenhouse or keeping an eye on Randy’s customers arriving at his home.

Mary is survived by her children, Judy Brown (Jim Benner), Randy (Laura) Aichholz and Nancy (Kenneth) Kochel; seven grandchildren, Bobbie Bogner, Dawn (Rob) Mango, Laurie (Mike) Risner, Jacquelyn (Greg) Stockmaster, Amber (Alex) Holmer, Samantha Greathouse and Zach (Isabelle) Aichholz; seven great grandchildren, Lauren, Hillary and Case Bogner, Lillian and Rook Stockmaster, and Derek and Jonathan Greathouse; one great-great granddaughter, Wynter; sister-in-law, Shirley Gernert; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Claude who passed away in 2005; son, Jerry; and brothers, Bob (Mary) Gernert, Tom (Beatrice) Gernert, Don Gernert and Charles (Mary) Gernert.

In following with Mary’s wishes, services will be private. Burial will be held at Attica Venice Cemetery in Attica. Memorial contributions can be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Attica or St. Jude’s Children Hospital. Online condolences can be left for her family by visiting www.secorfuneralhomes.com.
