Stephnie Mae Darby (Ramsey), 62, passed away on Friday, May 22. Born on February 15, 1964, to Wanda (Gangluff) Ramsey and the late Jeffrey Ramsey of Attica, Ohio, Stephnie lived a life rooted in faith, compassion, family, and service to others.

On July 4, 1992, she married the love of her life, Mark Darby, beginning a  beautiful journey together filled with laughter, devotion, and family memories.  Together they built a life centered around love and faith and raised four children: Lindy (Nick) Severance, proud parents of Cheyann and Kylie; Tiffany (David) Feeley, proud parents of Calvin and Emerson; Scott Sheibley; and Jeffrey (Kaitlyn) Darby, proud parents of Weston.

Stephnie is also survived by her mother, Wanda Ramsey; her sister, Tracey Ramsey; her brother, Keith Ramsey; her nieces, nephews, and many extended family members and friends who loved her dearly.

A proud graduate of Seneca East High School, Class of 1982, Stephnie continued her education at Mercy School of Nursing, graduating in 1984. She dedicated 42 years of her life to nursing before retiring this past March. Nursing was more than a career to her— it was a reflection of her compassionate nature and servant’s heart — it was part of who she was. Her kindness, patience, and gentle spirit touched countless lives throughout her career.

Her faith was the foundation of her life. She remained active in her church, Bethlehem Lutheran, through various ministries, especially the choir, where her love for music and worship could shine. She also shared her faith through the meaningful relationship she had with her Goddaughter, Lauren McGhee.

Above all else, Stephnie loved her family. She found joy in shopping for her grandchildren, baking favorite treats, preparing meals that brought everyone together, and creating a home filled with warmth and comfort. Nothing made her happier than being “Grandma.” Her grandchildren were the light of her life.

Her family will forever cherish the simple, beautiful moments that made Stephnie so special — hearing her softly humming hymns around the house, catching her dancing in the kitchen, and laughing alongside her unforgettable, infectious laugh that could brighten any room. She brought joy wherever she went, and her presence comforting, and her kindness effortless.

Stephnie’s legacy lives on in the family she adored, the countless lives she touched through nursing and faith, and the memories that will forever bring both smiles and tears to those who miss her dearly.

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, June 4, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Attica, Ohio.  Calling hours will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with funeral services immediately following.  Burial will follow at the Attica Venice Cemetery in Attica.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Stephnie’s memory.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Stephnie’s passing. She was an extraordinary person whose kindness and strength touched so many lives. For 42 years, she gave herself to nursing—a true reflection of her compassion, dedication, and unwavering commitment to caring for others. Stephnie’s impact reaches far beyond her profession. She made people feel seen, comforted, and valued in moments when they needed it most. That kind of presence is rare, and it leaves a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to have known her. Please know that my thoughts are with you during this difficult time. I hope you find some comfort in the countless lives she touched and in the legacy of care and humanity she leaves behind. Your shift is over, friend. Your comrades in nursing will carry on your legacy. Rest easy.

My beautiful angel in heaven watch over us all. I can only hope to have an ounce of your kind compassionate heart. I was the most proud to be the “other nurse in the family” following as close behind you as I could! Growing up I was the most excited that Aunt Steph and Uncle Mark were coming over with my best buddy! Jillian and I loved riding in the car with you singing Shania Twain. I still have some of the little gifts you would bring back for us from your time Germany. I know God called you home early because he needs a strong woman of faith by his side. I can’t wait to see the nurses lane up in heaven boy I bet it’s special. You will be so missed and we will think of you often, when we do we will be reminded to pray without ceasing. I love you so much, thank you for years of good memories.

I was privileged to work with Stephanie in the OB Dept of the Willard Area Hospital when she was a new grad. She was such a caring nurse with compassion. God has a special place above for those who give so much for others. RIP Stephanie!
