Vonna J. Bays, age 66, of Ontario, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. She was born on February 29, 1960 in Willard, Ohio to the late Clyde Bays and Gladys (Thornsberry) Lawrence. Vonna did missionary work and enjoyed being on Facebook. Most of all, spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Jamelle Bays of Tiffin, Ohio and Sade Smith of Ontario, Ohio; lifetime companion, Brad Smith; grandchildren, Isaiah Bays and Janiya Bays; great grandchildren, Xavier Isaiah Bays, Maverick Bigley, Brian Bradford Bays, Boston Bailey, and Paisley Denney; sisters, Bernice Schaaf and Lisa (Calvin) Harvey; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Danny Bays, and nephews, Danny Kousma and Christopher Bays.
Per Vonna’s wish, there will be no funeral service. She will be buried with her mother and grandmother at Maple Grove Cemetery. Online condolences may be made to Vonna’s family by visiting www.secorfuneralhomes.com
