I haven’t seen John in 15 years but we have kept in touch corresponded by holiday cards for these past 15 years or so.
John and I had a mutual special respect for each other from our work years.
John always knew the correct way to approach a restoration project. He did it from his knowledge of hands on experience.
Every time I look at the TV and see The US Custom House in Boston, I just close my eyes and can see John climbing and reaching the Cupola with me following him. When we left the scaffold on the 34th floor- I looked down – John just kept going- so I just said ” John, if anyone can fix it, you can” and I quickly went back into the building.
John left his mark on many restorations throughout the country. He was a craftsman. he was the KING OF RESTORATION.
I will miss my yearly card from a dear friend.
