Doc Piller and family, it is with deep sadness that I heard of Rachel’s passing. As you know, Char was one of my very best friends growing up and I spent much time at the Piller house. Although I moved to California in the late 70’s, the childhood memories of being with your family are among my most cherished and when in town I always tried to look you up. Although I remember your entire family as warm and welcoming, Rachel especially was quite a character, and a very nice compliment to doc’s more serious personality. She was almost too sweet to believe! Playing the piano, a big smile always, offering healthy goodies for us kids. Welcoming and gentle. Thank you, thank you. Wonderful to read her obit, filling in some details of her childhood history. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
