Marilyn E. Kanney, age 86 of New Washington, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2026 at Unger Nursing Home in Bucyrus, Ohio.

Marilyn was born June 26, 1939 in Sandusky, Ohio to Harry and Dorothy (Martin) Miller. She graduated from Margaretta High School. Marilyn enjoyed sewing, shopping, flower gardens, traveling and was a proud member of the Red Hat Society.

She was married to Cletus "Clet" Kanney for 62 years before her passing.

Marilyn worked with her father at Medusa Cement Company before beginning work with the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. For a period of time, she was the school secretary at Buckeye Central before working at Farmers State Bank, where she was a drive thru manager for 16 years.

She was a member of the St. Bernard Catholic Church for many years.

Marilyn will be deeply missed by her Husband, Cletus Clet Kanney; children, Diane Kanney (Kelly Cameron), John Kanney, David (April) Kanney; grandchildren, Brittany Kanney, Evan (Payge) Kanney, Macie Cotton, DJ Kanney; great grandchildren, Aiden Kanney, Maddie Kanney, Millie McNair, Kenzie McNair; son-in-law, Tim Cotton; brother-in-law, Paul Kanney; and her sister-in-law, Inez Hord.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Sarah Cotton; siblings, Jim Miller, Wayne Miller; and her in-laws, Virgil and James Kanney and Donna Alt.

Family and friends may gather for visitation Thursday, February 5, 2026 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at St. Bernard Catholic Church in New Washington, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 A.M. with Father Eric Mueller officiating, and burial to follow at St. Bernard Catholic Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Fresenius Kidney Care of Crawford County or St. Bernard Catholic Church in New Washington. Any floral arrangements may be sent to St. Bernard Catholic Church, 422 West Mansfield Street, New Washington, Ohio 44854, on Thursday morning.  Online condolences can be left for Marilyn’s family by visiting www.secorfuneralhomes.com.

Family of Marilyn, so sorry to learn of Marilyn's passing. What a great lady, always full of joy, and always a ready laugh. I enjoyed seeing her at the drive-thru bank and sharing stories. To Clet, John, Diane, and David, my sincere sympathy to you in the passing of Marilyn. She surely enjoyed going to the Red Hats when able and Shirley was always glad when she was there. I enjoyed working with her at the bank. My thoughts and prayers will be with you tomorrow and unfortunately I will not be able to attend due to an appointment.

Marilyn was one of my "first"employers as a babysitter in the early 70s on Connely Rd. with 4 very busy children! She was a fun great mom who trusted me and called me many times! I always enjoyed seeing her over the years and catching up. My deepest sympathy to the entire family.
