Allen Ray Alford, 84, died on Saturday December 21, 2013 at The Willows in Willard, Ohio.
He was born on February 21, 1929 to the late Donald and Velma Alford in Columbus, Ohio. Allen graduated from Willard High School in 1947. He eloped with Helen J. Brooks on a very snowy November 24, 1950. They resided in Willard for many years before moving to Minford, Ohio in 1976. Allen spent his career working for CSX Transportation. In retirement Allen enjoyed flying his Beechcraft Musketeer with Helen up to their cottage on Johnson’s Island.
Allen is survived by his wife Helen, sons David (Susan) Alford of Manchester, TN; Bill (Patty) Alford of Monroeville, OH; and John (Jocelyn) Alford of Dublin, Ohio. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister Doris Alford Dick of Shelby, Ohio.
Visitation will be held starting at 10 AM on Saturday December 28, 2013 at Grace United Methodist Church in Willard. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM followed by a luncheon at the church.
