Arlene M. Smith, age 95, of Willard, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2019, at her home. She was born on May 7, 1924, in Peru Township in Huron County, Ohio to the late Harry and Olga (Cole) Ruggles. Arlene was a 4-H Advisor for many years and was an event planner for the First United Methodist Church Youth Group. Arlene cooked dinners for as many as 150 people, she organized and led the making of Apple Dumplings to raise funds for the youth group, and she cooked dinners for the youth program on Wednesday nights. Arlene enjoyed quilting, painting, cross stitching and she loved to Western Square Dance. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons, Dean (Jane) Smith, Ron (Debbie) Smith, Clifford (Susan) Smith, daughters, Eileen (Keith) Squires, Marilyn (Dave) Wood, and Sharon (Frank) Bishop, 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Roger J. Smith, a daughter Janice Dean, 2 brothers and 1 sister.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 10, 2019 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church where her funeral service will be at 1:00 PM with Rev. Aaron Meadows officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central of Ohio or the Youth Program at First United Methodist Church. Please accept my condolences on Arlene's passing. What a wonderful lady she was. I worked with her in the kitchen at First Methodist many times, and always enjoyed her company. Praying for comfort and peace for Arlene's family. RIP Arlene, a rest well earned.

Arlene was such a kind, generous part of my growing up years. She and Roger were such good friends to our family. RIP Arlene.
