Austin McKenzie Jr., age 59, resident of Willard, passed away on Friday, Dec. 21, 2007 at his residence. He was born on Nov. 16, 1948 in Brainard, KY to Austin McKenzie Sr. and Angeline (Simmons) Thrall. He was a veteran of the US Army. He served 15 years in the military, 10 years in the special forces, Green Berets, and 5 years as a recruiter in the Army.
He is survived by his father, Austin McKenzie Sr. of Mt. Sterling, KY; his mother, Angeline Thrall of Willard; 2 sisters, Peggy McKenzie of Willard and Joyce McKenzie of Fostoria; a brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Tammy McKenzie of Willard; 3 nephews, Jacob and Caleb McKenzie of Willard and Dwight McKenzie of Fostoria; a niece and her spouse, Amber (D.J.) Newman of New Haven, OH; great nieces, Hannah and Abby Newman and a great nephew, Gabe Newman.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Cheryl Kay McKenzie.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. The funeral service will be at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard on Monday at 2:00 P.M., with Rev. Greg Griffith officiating. Burial will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven, Ohio, with Military Rites. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Peggy and Joyce, I was so sorry to hear about Austin. I want to send my sympathy to you and your family. We have a lot of good memories. Remember all the good times we had when we were young.
