Beneth Ritchie, age 85, resident of rural Shiloh, Ohio passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. He was born on August 7, 1928 in Magoffin County, Kentucky to the late Elbert and Ranie (Clemons) Ritchie and had been a Shiloh resident since 1959. Mr. Ritchie was employed for 30 years at the former Mansfield Plating Company and also farmed. He enjoyed hunting and raising cattle.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Kilgore) Ritchie whom he married on October 22, 1949 in Norwalk, Ohio; one son, Gerald (Gloria) Ritchie of Shiloh; two grandsons, James (Laura) Ritchie of Mansfield; and Brandon Ritchie of Shiloh; a daughter-in-law, Leisha Ritchie of Shiloh; two brothers, Dexter (Djuana) Ritchie of Waverly, OH; and Robert Ritchie of Ashland; three sisters, Goldie Whistler of Mansfield; Marlene Ritchie of North Carolina; and Beth (Lonzo) Stover of Shelby; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a son, Timmy Dean Ritchie in 2013; three brothers, Greenville, Lawton and Silas Ritchie; and two sisters, Ruth Penrose and Ruby Bolen.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth, Ohio on Thursday, July 10, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM where the funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Ronald Fuson officiating. I grew up on Guthrie Road, watching Ben farm the large field right across from our house. He would frequently stop and talk at the edge of the road, or wave when rolling by. Our sympathy to the entire family, on your loss.
