Bertha Hicks, age 88, resident of Willard, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at the Willard Health Care Center in Willard, Ohio. She was born on February 16, 1923 to the late George and Amanda (Bailey) Hicks and had been a resident of Willard since 1938. She retired from Pioneer Rubber Company in Willard, Ohio after 42 years of service.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Myrna Jean (Ronald) Spath of Mansfield; three grandchildren, Robin Adams of Shelby, Ohio, Karen Hughett of Butler, Ohio and Craig Spath of Cincinnati, Ohio; six great grandchildren; one great-great grandson and one half brother, Roger Hicks of Ashtabula, Ohio.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Orville Hicks, whom passed away on October 28, 1996; four brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 28, 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard, Ohio. The funeral service will be Monday, August 29, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Willard, Ohio, with Rev. Doug Beggs officiating. Burial will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice 1200 Sycamore Line Sandusky, Ohio 44870. To the family, so sorry to hear the passing Bertha she wasn’t only a co-worker at Pioneer, but she was also a second cousin to me, (Billie Hicks)me and my wife thought the world of she and Orvil. Our prayers are with everyone of her family and friends

so sorry to hear of the passing of bertha-i was a coworker of hers when she was at pioneer balloon co and considered myself to also be a friend-she was a very sweet and kind lady-i feel blessed to have known her….
