Dear Kathy, Kenny, Richard, Chris,
It was good to see you all on Sunday. Your mom was very generous and encouraging to me. When I started at Freiberger library Betty trained me. It was the first full time job I had following my late husband’s death and I still had daughters in school.
Week-ends we spent with Betty at Kelley’s Island were so relaxing and special to me.
Hope you will continue to recall your wonderful mother!
With my deepest sympathy to you all.
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Please know that in this time of loss our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families.
Kathy and family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you. Betty was such an amazing woman. She fought that beast with all she had and still maintained a sparkle in her eye. Peace to her and her family here on earth.
Saying goodbye is not easy, and this is one woman who will be so missed by so many. To know Betty was to love her – and everyone she met she touched in a positive way. We should not grieve her passing – her peace – but it’s just our nature to do that. Instead – we should keep in our hearts what Betty stood for – and that was joy. Pure, unadulterated joy. What an inspiration this woman has been to so many. She welcomed all with open arms and a wonderful sense of humor and we are all blessed that she touched our lives. She taught us well – and it’s up to us to remember her lessons!
To the family of Betty. I’m truly sorry to learn of Bettys passing. I will certainly miss her going by on the Blue golf cart on Kelleys. Betty was a fun loving person and will greatly be missed by all. Your in my prayers and thoughts.
I worked with Betty for seven years at Freiberger Library at CWRU. I have missed her ever since she retired, missed her for her genuine happiness, and infectious spirit of fun, and the good feeling she spread to anyone who was around her.
One particular memory – Carolyn Kelly, the third of the three woman acquisitions department we formed, would sit with Betty after Easter when she would bring in pickled eggs. We all three loved them. No one else did. And we would sit there, and just enjoy that old fashioned Easter tradition.
My sympathy goes out to her many family members and friends. My thoughts are with you at this sad time. But I will also be thinking about the good times with Betty.
Our deepest sympathy to you & your family. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
My deepest sympathy to the family. Betty was a fun and loving person. We had great times in the Red
Hats at Holiday Lakes. She will be greatly missed by her friends here.
Kathy and Rick, so sorry to hear about your mom. Having lost mine recently, I know there are no words that will comfort you. Just know that I am thinking about you and will keep you in my prayers.
All my prayers and love to the family of Betty “Boop” who was loved by all the Island Singers and lots of other Kelleys Island folks, including me. She invited me to lots of Women Retreats that Father Ross gave. Knowing her has enriched my life and I am grateful for her friendship and sharing the joy of singing. Love and Light, Annalee
Aunt Betty’s family. We are so sorry for your loss, Aunt Betty was always a joy to have around and we will miss her very much! We were so happy to get to see her at Allison’s wedding in October! Love, Ryan, Amy, and Ryleah Striker Masterson
Kathy, my deepest sympathies to you, Rick, and your entire family. In the short time that I knew Betty I was so impressed with her zest for life and her wonderful personality. I know her loss was very difficult. She was so fortunate to have you & Rick providing her with the best possible care and family support here in Houston. I know this meant so much to her. All of you are in my thoughts. – Wes
My heartfelt prayers go out to the family of Betty. She is in a better place now and has no more suffering. Memories of Betty will forever bring a smile to my face. She definately enjoyed life and loved to laugh – she touched many people.
To Betty’s Family – We were very saddened to learn of Betty’s passing. She fought a long hard battle with cancer. She was a wonderful woman and will be missed by all. We always enjoyed her company and she was especially close to Sandy and her family. She has been almost a second Mom to Sandy and Heather and Brooklyn loved her, too – John, of course, too. Kelleys Island won’t be the same without her! Love to you all and our deepest sympathy to you. We are sorry that we cannot be there for the funeral or visitation as we are in Florida visiting our son but our thoughts and prayers will be with you. Love, Carolyn and Gary Spayd
To Betty’s Family, We loved Betty, she was a wonder person filled with love who brought lots of happiness to all. The Island Singers will not be the same without her. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you with our sincerest sympathy.
Richard. I am so sorry to hear about your Mom’s passing. As you know, I lost my Dad recently, so I think I have some small understanding about the loss you must be feeling. Mary Ellen’s mom recently shared some great stories about your Mom and she sounded like a person who had a great sense of humor and enriched the lives of those around her. Although I did not know her, I know the great son that she produced, and that tells me volumes about the fantastic person she must have been. Although the loss is painful, take comfort in the person that she was, and the love that she shared.
Mary Ellen, Pat and Scott

Thank you for sharing your Mom with me and you have my prayers that all your loving memories will help you in the days to come. Love, Diane
