Beulah Marie Dawson McQuown died on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at MedCentral Hospital in Mansfield, Ohio at the age of 95. She was born on May 31, 1920 to the late Richard Abner and Ella Eugenie Beck Dawson at home in Plymouth. Beulah was a devoted parent along with her husband, the late Norman McQuown, with whom she was married 70 years. Together they raised three sons and a daughter while living in Plymouth most of their lives. She taught elementary grades in Plymouth-Shiloh Schools, having graduated from Bowling Green State University and attending Ashland College.
Beulah was preceded in death by her husband and best friend, Norman Bruce; daughter, Sheryl Ann; parents, Richard and Eugenie Dawson; and brothers, Walter Crosby and Ray Franklin Dawson. She is survived by three sons, Roger (Katharine) of Lakeland, FL, John Craig (Marsha) of Mansfield, David (Bonnie) of Shelby; two nieces, Margaret (Steve) Pleasnick of Berea and Julia Metcalfe of Plymouth. Beulah is also survived by six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren with a great grandson expected in November.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth with Pastor Dwight Styker and Rev. John Grimm of the Plymouth United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Plymouth. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages gifts to the Plymouth United Methodist Church or the MedCentral Hospice in honor of Beulah’s memory. Your mother was a great teacher. I remember being in her classroom in the second grade and for the most part, enjoying every moment of it! She certainly encouraged all of us to do our very best.
