Charles L. Vogel, age 79, of North Fairfield, Ohio passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at the Norwalk Memorial Home surrounded by his family. He was born on April 2, 1946 in Willard, Ohio to the late John W. and Cherry (Crooks) Vogel.
A 1964 graduate of South Central High School, Charlie farmed, raised livestock, and retired from the Huron County Landfill. He proudly served on the Fairfield Fire Department and was a member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church on Sandhill Road. As an active member of the Rod & Gun Club, he ran fall turkey shoots. Charlie was a past member of the Huron County Grange, Farm Bureau, and Ohio Pork Producers. He was the past commander and current financial officer of the American Legion Post 706 in North Fairfield, where he enjoyed spending time in the kitchen frying fish. Charlie was an avid hunter and fisherman. His favorite time spent was at county fairs, state fairs, and national livestock shows. He especially enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids participate in sporting events and livestock shows.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Jeri (Fife) Vogel who he married on January 2, 1999, and sons, John (Audrey) Vogel of North Fairfield, Carl (Georgia) Vogel of North Fairfield, and Mike Vogel of Wilmington. Charlie was blessed with six grandchildren, Kyle (Julie) Vogel, Emiley (Alex) Uselton, Issac Kehres, Hali (Jordan) Horning, Hannah (Noah) Dotson, Maddie (Issaic) Dendinger. His five great grandchildren include Landon, Sophia, Frank, Brooks, and Zella. He is also survived by his brother, Greg Vogel of Alabama, sister-in-law, Deedra Fife and her son Triton, along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Frances Vogel.
Calling hours will be on Sunday, July 20, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Expo Building at the Huron County Fair Grounds. Fair attire is welcome at calling hours. Charlie’s funeral service will be on Monday, July 21, 2025 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Norwalk, Ohio at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Phil Gardner officiating. Burial will follow at North Fairfield Cemetery in North Farfield, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the North Fairfield Buyers Group 1301 S. Ridge Rd.
