Diana L. Shell, age 73, resident of New Washington, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 4, 2013 at the Bucyrus Community Hospital. She was born on August 28, 1939 in New Washington, Ohio to the late William and Thelma (Ross) Ankney and had been a lifelong New Washington resident. She was a graduate of New Washington High School and was employed at Timken for a couple of years before starting her family. Diana was a member of the St. Bernard Catholic Church, the Rosary Altar Society and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, reading, watching birds and was a wonderful cook and baker. She especially enjoyed her time with her family and grandchildren.
Diana is survived by her husband, Robert Shell, whom she married on October 18, 1958; three children, Dawn (William) Moyer; Andrew Shell (fiance’ Kathy Snook); and Sandra Shell all of New Washington; four grandchildren, Kraine (Jessica) Shell; Loren Shell; Austin Moyer; and Shayla Moyer; two sisters, Doris Zucker of Bucyrus; and Delberta (Russ) Hedglin of Ashland; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Douglas Robert Shell; five brothers, Kenneth Neil, William Ross, Donald Max, Frederick Norton and Darhl Roy Ankney; three sisters, Dortha Ealy; Darlene Stuckman and Donna Jean Frank; and infant siblings, Kathleen and David Paul.
Friends may call on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the Secor Funeral Home in New Washington, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. Bernard Catholic Church, with Father Eric Culler officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Bernard Catholic Church or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
