Diane E. Babcock, age 72, of Fostoria, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at St. Catherine’s Manor of Fostoria, with her loving husband at her side. She was born on July 31, 1953 in Norwalk, Ohio to the late Robert and Florence (Phlieger) Hershiser.
Diane was a 1971 graduate of Norwalk High School. During high school, she was a book keeper for Jennings Ready Mix. After she married her husband David, they moved from Ohio to Germany, Hawaii, and DC, where David was stationed in the U.S. Army. Later in his career, they moved back to Ohio and Diane started her career at Quality Care Nursing Home in Willard where she was a house keeper, an aide, a secretary, and eventually became the Assistant Administrator. She left Quality Care to work for Mifflin Care Center in Mansfield where she was also the Assistant Administrator. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Diane is survived by her husband of 53 years, David Babcock, whom she married on May 6, 1972; a son, Joshua (Cynthia Deschamps-Babcock) Babcock from Montreal, Canada; grandchildren, Makayla (Mitch) Bundy of Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Madelyn Dawson of Columbus, Ohio; Leigha Deschamps of Montreal, Canada; and Lillith Deschamps-Babcock of Montreal Canada; great grandchildren, Paisley Jane, Theodore, and Amelia; sister, Linda Cavello of Centerton, Ohio; and nephews, Seth and Garret.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Florence Hershiser.
Visitation will be at Secor Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 starting at 1:00 PM until the time of her service at 2:00 PM with Chaplain Tom Dennis officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 907 W State St A, Fremont, OH 43420.
