Donald A. Hamons, age 85, of Willard, Ohio passed away November 17, 2014 at his home. He was born May 29, 1929 in McDowell County, West Virginia to the late James and Hattie Mae (Barnett) Hamons. He was a member of the Church of God on Willard West Road in Willard, Ohio since the late 1950’s. He worked for Copperweld in Shelby, Ohio for over 40 years and at Geldhill in Galion, Ohio. He was an U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Virgie (Triplett) Hamons whom he married May 26, 1948; 3 daughters, Donna (Clyde) Miller of Shelbyville, KY; Bobbie (Greg) Hartz of Willard; and Kim (Carl) Craigmyle of North Lawrence, OH; 2 sons, Kenny (Peggy) Hamons of Cleveland, TN; and Todd (Cathy) Hamons of Willard; 8 grandchildren, Brandon Hartz, Mandi Martin, Brian Hamons, Tara Estrada, Kaytie Craigmyle, Cathern, Morgan and Lauren Hamons; 17 great grandchildren, Austin, Zoey, Regan & Olivia Hartz, Maddelyn, Emma, Caroline, Elijah, Annesley & Vivian Martin, Abbigal, Gavin, Gage & Savannah Hamons, Ashton, Jaden & Kamden Estrada; 3 special boys, Steven, Nicolas and Benjamin Osorio; brother, James Hamons of Willard.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Hattie Mae Hamons; 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 19, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the Willard Church of God, 4551 Willard West Road, in Willard, Ohio where the funeral service will be Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Greg Griffith officiating. Burial will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.secorfuneralhomes.com
We are so sad at the passing of Don. We know that we did not “lose” him, because we all know beyond a shadow of a doubt where he is. Thanks to Don & Virgie, we will be there too. Comfort and peace to all those who knew and loved Don.
