Dear Donna:
Peg and I were so sorry to read about Don’s passing. He was a real gentleman, a great businessman, and a true friend. Don’s help with our construction loan, and the continued friendship you and he extended – even after I left the City – meant so much to us. As many other of your friends have already shown, he will be sorely missed. May you and all your family take comfort in knowing he will be in Heaven with God.
Sincerely,
Peg and Jim Koshmider

Larry and Steve Bushy-Benoit - Jul 6, 2012

Oh my.  We are so terribly surprised and saddened Barbara. Please know we send you and your mother and the Myers clan our love and prayers. Our parents are getting older. Life is so precious. I will always remember your Dad’s humble soft spoken nature and his genuine interest in greeting the two of us when he and your Mom arrived in your home.  He adored you  and he was so proud of his kids successes. It was nice to walk and talk with him in Cabo for your 40th. He enjoyed us because he loved you and we were a little part of your world.  We loved his love of poker. We loved sharing stories at your wine and cheese parties. He was genuine with you. Happy to move beyond the small talk. Larry remembers your folks gazing at the orange city hall dome one night during Halloween in awe. He was really excited about that. Larry was touched by how Don was so protective of your mom when they went down to Civic Plaza during the Giants World Series parade  The crowds were huge. They had to be there. And he really watched out for your mom. He was such a gentlemen. They don’t grow them like that out here. We send our love to you and the family and will keep you in our prayers.  Share our sorrow with Anne, Tom, and Mary. God bless him.  He was a strong, warm, honorable man. And we’ll miss him.
Steve and Larry

Joe Raguso - Jul 5, 2012

Donna,
I was very sorry to hear of Don’s passing. He was definitely a very special man. I realized that when I first met both of you on our trip to El Salvador and COAR in 2005. That was barely 7 years ago but I feel that I have known both of you for a lifetime. Since then I have looked forward to seeing you every year for our short visits at the luncheon. You both fell in love with the children of COAR on that trip and have been faithful supporters ever since.
It is obvious from reading the other comments that Don was a blessing to many people. He certainly was a blessing to the children of COAR and all of the many friends he met through COAR. We will all miss Don but he continues to live on in all of our wonderful memories of him. May God be with you and your family during this sad time. Joe

Dear Donna, Mary, Ann, Tom & Barb,

Donna and family
My prayers are with you and your family. I am a priest classmate of Fr. Ken Myers, presently at St. Peter Church in N. Ridgeville. I am also VP of the Board of Trustees of COAR Peace Mission for the last 10 years. I just returned from a visit to El Salvador, and the Children’s Village of Oscar Romero which Fr. Ken founded, and you and Don were such loyal supporters. I first went to visit Fr. Ken in 1982, right after he bought the farm for the orphanage.
With great gratitude to you and Don, and with my prayers,
Fr. Bob Sanson

COAR Peace Mission - Jul 3, 2012

Dear Donna and family – Don was a great support to the impoverished children of El Salvador at COAR, the orphanage founded by Don’s cousin, Fr. Ken Myers. Don’s presence at COAR’s 25th anniversary in 2005 was especially meaningful to all of us. He spoke of his youth and summers with Fr. Ken. It helped the children realize that we were all children once, despite the grandfatherly role he also played that week (and played it well, with all the practice he has had!!) Vaya con Dios, amigo.
