Donald C. Kaple, 78, resident of 309 Foote St., New Washington,died Sunday, October 31st, 2004 at MedCentral Ohio Hospital in Mansfield, Ohio. He was born on June 8, 1926 in New Washington to Anna and Benjamin Kaple. He was married to Dorothy Ross Kaple on August 7, 1948, who survives. He is also survived by their twelve children, Steve (Sandy) Kaple, Jule Kaple, Keith (Cheri) Kaple, Mike Kaple, Randy (Lori) Kaple, Kenny Kaple all of New Washington; Diane (John) Hunziker of Cleveland; Tim (Yvonne) Kaple of Youngstown; Sharon Kaple of Bucyrus; Mary (Doug) Kehres of Van Wert; Neal (Laura) Kaple of Deltona, Florida; Todd (Melissa) Kaple of Shelby. Also surviving
are 22 grandchildren and one great grandchild as well as his brother, James (Doris) Kaple and sister, Patricia (Sonny) Wechter.
Don was preceeded in death by his parents,one granddaughter, Leah; four brothers, Bud, Vincent, John and Fr. Timon and three sisters, Martina Shakelford, Dolores Uhl and Joan Ervin.
He was an owner of the Kaple Lumber Company, served in the US Navy, stationed in Cuba from 1946-1948. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and American Legion. Don retired from the family business in 1987. He enjoyed the outdoors, all of his family, and cherished his grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in New Washington on Tuesday, November 2nd from 3-8 P.M. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, November 3rd at 11:00 A.M., with Fr. Gary Stacom, O.F.M. and Fr. Frederick Schill officiating. Burial will be at the St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery following the Mass.
Family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Visiting Nurses Association of Mid Ohio, Alter Care Day Care Program of Bucyrus or St. Bernard School of New Washington, Ohio.
