Douglas R. Meade, age 78, resident of New Haven, Ohio passed away on Friday, May 23, 2025 at his home. He was born on February 16, 1947 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky to the late C.B. and Melba (Blair) Meade.
Doug was given an unfortunate Polio diagnosis and told that he wouldn’t live until the age of 10. He was more than thankful to overcome that life expectancy and lived life to the fullest, always with a smile on his face. In his younger years, he worked for a number of businesses, most notably out in the Muck, at Kaple Lumber and for Albright turkey farms.
Affectionately known by some as “Wolfman” or “The Legend”, Doug loved to listen to Elvis Presley and watch Western movies, specifically ones starring John Wayne. He enjoyed fishing, archery and drawing in his spare time.
A true kid at heart, Doug was often found walking around town, with his “poke” (chewing tobacco) and smile, chatting with anyone he came into contact with. He cherished times spent with his family, especially his younger nieces and nephews.
Doug is survived by his siblings, Debbie (Doug) Francis, Audie Meade and Dennis Meade; his special nephew, Josh (Angela) Bartell, who helped look after him; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by two sisters, Deanna Bartell and Zandra Montgomery.
Family and friends may visit at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard on Saturday, May 31, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. His funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Ricky Branham officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Willard. Memorial contributions can be made to Doug’s family. Online condolences can be left for his family by visiting www.secorfuneralhomes.com.

Luke 17:2 KJV "It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.”

Doug did not know a stranger. He had a kind word for everyone. He loved to keep everyone entertained. What I recall from childhood, when I first met him, was his outstanding ability to draw. He especially liked to draw horses and would often draw me pictures. I was in awe of his talent. My deepest condolences.

I remember Doug way back watching a Godzilla movie at the Willard theater up town. Doug was always in front of the screen acting like a monster 😂. We always called him crazy Doug but he just wanted to make everyone laugh. I always picked him up hitchhiking he'd say I'm headed to Prestonsburg I'd say I can get you to Plymouth 😂. Fun loving guy condolences.
