Elmer Bolen Sr., 90, of West Portsmouth, Ohio entered the gates of heaven on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at SOMC Hospice. He was born on August 16, 1930 in Garrett, Kentucky to the late Rant and Bertha (Chaffins) Bolen.

He worked for the B & O Railroad for 37 years in Willard, Ohio where he lived until 1990 when he moved to West Portsmouth, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Jo (Baugh) Bolen; two sons, Melvin and Elmer Bolen Jr.; two daughters, Tonia Rowe and Bertha Hale; five brothers, Robert, Vernon, Delbert, Toby and Luther Bolen; and eight sisters, Gracie, Yvonne, Thelma, Mandy, Chelsey, Josie, Martha and Alma.

He is survived by his two sons, Michael Bolen of Portsmouth, Ohio and Ralph Bolen of West Portsmouth, Ohio; three daughters, Joyce Lovejoy of West Hamlin, West Virginia, Libby Neace of Delaware, Ohio, and Penny Bragg of Hamlin, West Virginia; one brother, Mitchell Bolen of Rodchester, Indiana; one sister, Elsie Slone of Pippapass, Kentucky; 10 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to Elmer’s graveside service on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven, Ohio at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Delmar Bailey officiating.
