Eugene P. Weithman, age 91, of New Washington, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at the Hillside Acres Nursing Home in Willard, Ohio. He was born May 9, 1920 in Bucyrus, Ohio and has lived all of his life in the New Washington area. He was a foreman brick layer for Knowlton Construction in Bellefontaine, Ohio as well as worked for Weithman Brothers and Studer-Obringer in New Washington and B.C.G. Weithman in Bucyrus. He was a member of the Brick Layers Allied Craft (BAC). He also taught masonry at the Pioneer Joint Vocational School in Shelby. He was a member of the New Washington American Legion and was a Navy Veteran during WW II.
He is survived by 3 sons, Tom Weithman of New Washington, Robert Weithman of New Washington and William Weithman of Galion; 2 daughters, Paula Price of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Melissa Hancock of Columbia, S.C.; 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Carol (James) Weithman and his parents, Alfred & Veronica (Pifher) Weithman; brother, Gilbert Weithman and a sister, Doris Briggs.
Visitation will be Friday, March 23, 2012 from 5-8 P.M. at the Secor Funeral Home in New Washington. The funeral mass will be Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at the St. Bernard Cathloic Church in New Washington, with Fr. Eric Culler and Fr. Frederick Schill officiating. Burial will be at the St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery in New Washington. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.secorfuneralhomes.com

I’m so sorry for the loss of Gene. He was a good and funny guy. I loved taking care of him. I am going to really miss him. He was a great joy for the 3 years that i have known him. Im so sorry that i didn’t make it for the showing my step mother passed away the same day as Gene. He is with God now enjoying time up the. My prayers are with his family and friends.
Gene and Carol were a big part of my life when they lived on Liberty St., Bucyrus. I babysat for Tom and Bobby. Wow, so many years ago. Sorry for your loss,family.

He was a great teacher!!I enjoyed him and his masonry class.I was the second class he taught at Pioneer Joint Vocational School 1981.God Bless
