Franklin D. Ousley, age 86, of Plymouth, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at home surrounded by his loving family after suffering many kinds of cancer.   He was born February 28, 1938 in Dock, Ky to the late John D. and Rhoda (Hicks) Ousley.   He attended the LifePoint Community Church in Plymouth, Ohio.  He was a member of the UAW,  Silver Kings of Yesteryear Tractor Club and the SHELMAN Model A Car Club.  Frank had a sense of humor and enjoyed a good prank.

Frank had the best work ethic something his children admired him for.   His first job as a child was unlocking the one room school house in Hippo Ky.   Building a fire in the stove to heat the building and sweeping out the school house at the end of the day. He did all of that for a dime a day.

When his family moved to Plymouth Ohio in 1951 he helped his father work the family farm and even though he enjoyed playing basketball in high school, he left school before graduating to enter the workforce.

On  September 4, 1960 he married the love of his life Nannie Ruth Hicks Ousley and she survives him.   By the close of December 1961, he was working at the new Fisher Body Plant in Mansfield.  A job that would  afford them the opportunity to purchase a small farm of their own in Plymouth where they would raise their four children.   Frank many times would work three jobs, his welding position at GM, butcher for the Border’s Market and farm his ever growing family farm, and continue helping his father on their family farm.  Franklin retired from General Motor Company after 42.3 years.

He is survived by his four children, Jeffrey F. Ousley of Plymouth,  Shawn (Kevin) Oney of Greenwich, Marla (Greg) Armstrong of Shelby and Shelley (Gene) Carey of Shelby; grandchildren, Kaylyn (Jon) Womeldorf, Travis Burkhart, Joshua (Nichole Perkins) Oney, Trevor Burkhart, Tyler (Lizzy Miller) Burkhart and Levi (Breanna) Oney; great grandchildren, Colton and Maddilyn Burkhart and Allister Mullins; 4 siblings, Eleanor Haering, Claude (Janet) Ousley, Thelma (Larry) O'Neil and Clarence Ousley; son-in-law, James Burkhart of Crestline and honorary grandchild, Noah Horn of Germany; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rhoda Ousley, grandson Zachary Armstrong, sister Glenna Hamer, sister-in-law Nancy Ousley, brothers-in-law, Frank Krupa, Kenneth Hamer and Don Haering.

Franklin's calling hours will be on Friday, February 14, 2025 at LifePoint Community Church in Plymouth, Ohio from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Additional calling hour will be on Saturday, February 15, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Franklin’s funeral service beginning 11:00 a.m. at LifePoint Community Church in Plymouth, Ohio. Burial will follow at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Plymouth, Ohio.   Memorial contributions may made to LifePoint Community Church.   Online condolences may be made to the family at www.secorfuneralhomes.com.

I shared the joy of meeting your father on a few occasions, as my father, Jim Fish knew him from the Silver King Tractor Club. I was amazed by his collection of antiques, and his pure joy about all that he loved. May his Soul find peace, and may your always be spirited by all that he lived, and modeled. -Jennifer Fish
