Gerald E. “Gerry” Phillips, age 74, of North Greenfield Road, Willard, Ohio, passed away Saturday, December 4, 2010 at the Stein Hospice in Sandusky, Ohio. He was born on April 8, 1936 to the late Eugene and Anna (Gwirtz) Phillips in Norwich Township, Ohio. Gerry was the owner of Phillips Auto Repair and a retired machinist from N&S Railroad in Bellevue, Ohio. He was also a lifelong member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Bismark, Ohio.
Gerry is survived by his wife, Dian (Deibert) Phillips whom he married on June 15, 1957; six children, Carrie (Michael) Snook of Willard, Stephen (Janet) Phillips of Willard, Jeffrey (Evelyn) Phillips of Attica, Susan (Nate) Frisch of Attica, Gerald L. (Susan) Phillips of Willard, and Jeanne (Doug) Lillo of Willard; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-granchildren; a sister, Delores (Don) Heil of Tiffin; a sister-in-law, Margaret Phillips, wife of the late Melvin Phillips; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Melvin Phillips; and granddaughter, Nicole Phillips.
Visitation will be Monday, December 6, 2010, from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at St. Gaspar del Bufalo Church with Father Paul Fahrbach officiating. Burial will be at Bismark Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Stein Hospice in Sandusky, American Cancer Society, Bismark Senior Community Center or to the donor’s choice.
