Gertrude Beaty, age 96, resident of rural Greenwich, Ohio passed away on Monday, April 17, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born March 5, 1921 in Plymouth, Ohio to the late Don G. and Marguerite (McBride) Echelbarger. Gertrude was a notary and a bookkeeper for her husband’s business. She was a member of the Adario Methodist Church and the Adario Mothers Club. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, fishing, mushroom hunting, cooking and most off all, being with her family especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Linda (Alan) Gano of Plymouth and Jackie Dunn of Shenandoah; a son, Robert (Jackie) Beaty of Shenandoah; 7 grandchildren, Scott (Rachael) Gano, Jennifer (Eric) Gurney, Juli (Brandon) Sterba, Kristin Dunn, Bob (Heather) Beaty, Curt (Abi) Beaty and Darrel (Jessica) Beaty; 13 great grandchildren, A.J., Lacie, Tony and Isabella Gano, Dalayna (Jordan) Viock, Jacob, Kaley and Jared Gurney, Mallory and Kasey Sterba, Tyler, and Alana and Daxton Beaty; 1 great great grandchild, Karleen Viock; 2 sisters, Donna Dawson of Shelby and Lucille Ross of Plymouth and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Beaty; 4 sisters, Dorothea Arnold, Jeanette Broderick, Ella Jane Albert and Betty Gilger; brother, Mac (Carol) Echelbarger.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth on Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM where the funeral service will be on Friday, April 21, 2017 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Bob Beaty, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Adario Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial expressions can be made to the Hospice of North Central Ohio or the Adario Methodist Church. “Grandma” Gertrude was one of the sweetest and kindest people I’ve ever known. I’m so happy I knew her as my bff’s Grammy from our younger days to now. She was a gem, and her love will always be with you!
