Hope M. Smith, age 89, resident of Plymouth passed away Sunday morning, May 9, 2004 in Fisher-Titus Medical Center following a unexpected illness. She was born December 18, 1914 in Chatfield, Ohio to the late Arnold and Lena (Cook) Rockey and was a graduate of Chatfield High School. She remained a Chatfield resident for some years and also lived in Plymouth and made her retirement home in Florida. Mrs. Smith, along with her husband, owned and operated the HopeRoy Card and Gift Shops located in Plymouth and Tiffin during the 1960’s. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Plymouth and a member of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Eunice Smith of Canfield, OH; two grandsons and a spouse, Jeff Smith of Sylvania, OH; Kim and Joan Smith of Canfield, OH; four great grandchildren, Jessica, Audrey, Alec and Andrew Smith; one sister, Thelma Vredenburgh of Plymouth; one niece, Rita Mumea; one nephew, Larry Vredenburgh both of Plymouth. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy L. Smith in 1992 and a son, Ramon D. Smith.
A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Plymouth at 1:00 PM on Sunday, May 16, 2004 with Reverend Linda Heinaman officiating. Memorial expressions can be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 29 Plymouth St., Plymouth, OH 44865. Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth assisted the family with arrangements.
