Inez Mary Gray, age 94, resident of New Washington, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at the Willows at Willard. She was born on November 24, 1931 in Cranberry Township, Crawford County, Ohio to the late Otto and Josephine (Durnwald) Heydinger. Inez is a 1949 New Washington High School graduate and worked as an office clerk at Shelby Sales Book Company. She also worked as a volunteer at Cape Coral Hospital for 17 years. She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Rosary Alter Society, and Golden Gems. Inez was also a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church in Cape Coral, Florida. She belonged to the Senior Center Club at the Yacht Club. Her favorite hobbies were making quilts, embroidering and spending winter months in Cape Coral, Florida.

Inez is survived by her husband, Richard E. "Dick" Gray, whom she married on October 1, 1955 at Mother of Sorrow Church; 2 sons, Jim (Jennifer) Gray of Springfield, Ohio, Scott (Michele) Gray of Newark, Ohio; a daughter, Sandy (Mike) Shafer of Wadsworth, Ohio and daughter-in-law Sue Gray of Norwalk; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; brother, Glenn Heydinger; sister-in-law, Sue Heydinger; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sons, Stephen Gray in 2025 and Robin "Rob" Gray in 2006; 3 sisters, Bertha (Robert) Karl, Viola (Louis) Karl, Vera (Howard) Clady; 5 brothers, Donald Heydinger, Allen Heydinger, Harold (Frances) Heydinger, Bill (Rose) Heydinger, and Gilbert (Margaret) Heydinger; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Heydinger; an infant sister, Mary Alice Heydinger; and 2 infant brothers, Raymond Heydinger and Louis Heydinger.

Friends may call at St. Bernard Catholic Church on Saturday, January 10, 2026 from 10:00 AM until the time of her Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 PM with Fr. Mark Herzog officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Bernard Catholic Church. My sincere sympathy to Dick and the rest of the Gray family. She fought as long as she could. I remember the times when she and Dick were at the dinners at the Golden Gem Center and Shirley went right to them and give them both a hug. I am sure Shirley greeted her in Heaven.
