Ivan D. Adams, age 88, resident of Willard, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at the Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital. He was born on May 12, 1930 in New Haven, Ohio to Stanley Adams and Agnus (Roberts) Smith. A veteran of the US Army, having served in the Korean War, Ivan was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Battle Infantry Badge, Korean War Service, Good Conduct Medal and other citations for his service to our country. He was self employed as an electritian and plumber. A family man, Ivan was always providing in any way that he was able and always had a soft spot for children. Ivan's hobbies included going to flea markets, listening to country music and traveling to Florida with his wife.

He is survived by a son, Jeff (Linda) Adams of Willard; a daughter, Sandra Adams of Willard; 2 granddaughters, Crystal (Matt) McDonald of Willard, Shannon Obermiller of Clyde; a grandson, Eric (Tierrany) Adams of Shelby; and 13 great grandchildren; siblings, Helen Bannworth of Willard, Hobert Adams of Willard, Carol L. (Paul) Boring of Gainsville, GA, Suzzie Peck of Chilicothe, OH, Fred (Sandy) Capelle of New London, OH and Linda (Gary) Slye of Dayton, OH; sister-in-law, Kathy Adams of Jasper, GA; and special uncle, George Adams.

In addition to his parents, Ivan was preceded in death by his wife, Gerlene (Hall) Adams; son, Allan Wayne Adams and siblings, Stanley "Jr." Adams, William Adams, Dorothy Bores, Louella Walker, Marilyn Loney and Kenneth Adams.

Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard on Thursday, February 21, 2019 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. His funeral service will be on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Greg Griffith officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Willard Church of God. I am one of many 1st cousins i remember Dick from his return from Korea. Over the years we spent many visits together Today I first learned that his name is Ivan not Dick I will miss you but am very glad you shared some of your life with me

I have fond memories of Uncle Dick from when we were kids. He was always very gentle and kind hearted. He would give us a coin to buy a pop when we visited and I thought that was so cool! We send our love and condolences to you all. He will be missed, but has been promoted to his heavenly home.
