J. Joanne Dalton, age 93, resident of Willard, Ohio, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026 at Willard Mercy Hospital. She was born on August 29, 1932 in Norwalk, Ohio to the late Henry and Mabel (Humphrey) Trauger.

Joanne was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Willard and Car Coddlers group. It wasn’t uncommon to find Joanne watching The Game Show Network and snacking on mint chocolate chip ice cream with potato chips or chocolate chip cookies. She loved to shop and taking trips to Florida. Most of all, her family meant the world to her. She had a true mother’s love in caring for her children and was not afraid to spoil her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Denny (Jayne) Vanderpool of Willard, Brenda (Donnie) Bailey of Greenwich, Kim Vanderpool of Willard and Cheryl (Danny) Atkins of Willard; 7 grandchildren, Chris Whatman, Rachael (Kelly) Kruger, Brad (Michelle) Whatman, Craig (Stacia) Atkins, Nick (Tania) Atkins, Jim (Amanda) Vanderpool, Sean Allen and Amanda (Shawn) Pickworth; 16 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her special caregivers, Glenda Dye, Makayla Soules and Ashley Soules Carico.

In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Dalton; granddaughter, Alicia Atkins; sisters, Evelyn Bishop and Loretta Sword; and her dog, Buster.

Visitation will be at Secor Funeral Home in Willard on Friday, March 20, 2026 from 11:00 AM until the time of her funeral service at 1:00 PM with Pastor Andy Rupert officiating.  Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Willard.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church in Willard.  Online condolences may be made to Joanne's family by visiting www.secorfuneralhomes.com.

Kim, we just wanted to let you know we can't come to your mom's calling hours because I have a meeting that day at the same time. Please know we are thinking of you during this sad time . Your memories of your mom will never fade away.

Have good memories of when I was younger and we always closed the restaurant on Saturday night. We turned cleaning into fun and laughs. She was Big Jo and I was Little Jo so the family would know which one they were talking about. My heart breaks for all of you and prayers for comfort. You were blessed to keep her for a long time but yet it was too short. Love you all.
