James “Jamie” H. Montgomery, age 80, lifelong resident of Willard, Ohio passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on December 11, 1945 in Willard to the late Marion Lee and Alice (Tackett) Montgomery.

Jamie attended Willard High School before entering the workforce at Midwest Industries, where he worked and retired from after 44 years. He was a member of Temple of God in Shelby and enjoyed the friendships he held within the church. Jamie was an avid sports fan; whether it was on the golf course, watching NASCAR or cheering on his favorite Ohio sports team.

A self-made politician, Jamie lived life with the outlook that it was either his way or the wrong way! He was a handyman who enjoyed working on cars and small equipment. Most of all Jamie loved his family, especially his grandbabies who he loved to spoil.

Jamie is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Vanessa (Patton) Montgomery; 9 children, Dianna Lynn Alsept, Kathryn Sue Crow, Tammy (Mark) Headlee, James (Jessica) Montgomery, Nickolas (Rebecca) Montgomery, Cynthia (Roger) Whetstone, Jennifer (Tim) Sexton, Andrew (Nicole) Montgomery and Matthew Montgomery; 24 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brother, Wilbur (Linda) Montgomery; sister-in-law, Brenda Montgomery; mother-in-law, Opal “Granny” Patton; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jamie was preceded in death by his siblings, Willard, James D., Jesse, Dempsey, Ben and Mac D. Montgomery, and Liz Spears.

Family and friends may visit at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard on Friday, December 26, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Jamie’s funeral will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor John Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Willard. Online condolences can be left for the family by visiting www.secorfuneralhomes.com.
