Janice M. DeWitt, age 86, resident of New London, Ohio passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2022 at her home, surrounded by her family and friends. She was born on February 4, 1936 in Plymouth, Ohio to the late John and Bertha (DeWitt) Newmeyer.
A graduate of New Haven High School, Janice went on to work for Midwest Industries, Fannie Farmers and retired from Pepperidge Farm. Janice was an avid collector of Cherish Teddies, having over 500 in her collection. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading and watching NASCAR and football.
Janice is survived by her 3 sons, Michael (Tina) DeWitt of Titusville, Pennsylvania, Kevin DeWitt of North Canton, Ohio and Scott (Laurie) DeWitt of New London; 13 grandchildren, Tabby, Jason, Josh, Jeremy, Kimberly, Kristopher, Kurtis, Kody, Meganne, Chase, Samantha, Ashley and Amber; numerous great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph DeWitt, who she married on September 19, 1954; daughter, Jill Gilliland; one grandchild, Angela DeWitt; two great grandchildren, Reya Gumber and Kurtis DeWitt Jr.; two sisters, Phyllis Newmeyer and Verna Blum; half-brother, John; 8 brothers-in-law and 5 sisters-in-law.
Family and friends may visit at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard, Ohio on Friday, September 2, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Burial will be held at a later date at North Fairfield Cemetery in North Fairfield, Ohio.
