John A. Garrett, Jr., age 64, resident of Rome, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 8, 2016 at his home. He was born on January 30, 1952 in Shelby, Ohio to the late John Sr. and Marilyn (Thompson) Garrett. John was a 1970 graduate of Plymouth High School and retired in 2011 from Broshco. He attended the Apostolic Faith Assembly in Mansfield and was a member of the Plymouth Lions Club. He enjoyed fishing and going to flea markets.
He is survived by his wife, Sheryl (Blankenship) Garrett whom he married on October 3, 1970; 2 sons, Nathan “Shane” Garrett of Ashland and Ben (Ariel) Garrett of Rome; 3 grandchildren, Hunter, Peyton and Reagan Garrett; foster son, Thomas Bradford of Rome; 1 sister, Linda Baker; special niece, Audrey (Russell) Restelli of Mansfield; and several other nieces and nephews; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Norma and Fred Sowders of Rome; and his dog, Sadie.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John Sr. and Marilyn (Thompson) Garrett.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth, Ohio on Monday, July 11, 2016 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM where a funeral service will be on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Robert A. O’Brian officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh, Ohio. Memorial contributions can be made to the Plymouth Lions Club or the Apostolic Faith Assembly Church.
