John Buurma Jr., age 84, of Willard, passed away Monday, May 21, 2007 at the Willard Mercy Hospital. He was born April 17, 1923 in Willard to the late John and Anna (Trapp) Buurma. He lived in Willard all of his life and is where he was a partner and farm manager of Buurma Farms. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Willard and was an avid reader.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Veenboer) Buurma, whom he married Dec. 1, 1953; daughter and son-in-law, Elisabeth Anne Buurma and Reid Mitchell of New Orleans, LA; 3 brothers, Richard Buurma of Gregory, MI, Robert Buurma and James Buurma of Willard; 2 sisters, Dora Bloem of Grand Rapids, MI and Ruth Sharpless of Orlando, FL; many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John & Anna (Trapp) Buurma, brother, Frank Buurma and sister, Mary Simerink.
Calling Hours will be Wednesday from 5-8 P.M. at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard. The memorial service will be Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church in Willard, with Pastor Kathryn Rhoads and Pastor Leonard Riemersma officiating.
