John David Bores, age 76, of Willard, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 9, 2009 after an extended illness. He was born October 22, 1933 in Willard to the late Benjamin and Alice (Dannemiller) Bores. He was retired from CSX Railroad. He was a member of the Willard Moose Lodge and Willard VFW. He enjoyed golfing and bowling. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dortha (Taulbee Hedden) Bores; one daughter, Becky (Bill) Kidd; five grandchildren, Noel (Michelle) Kidd, Tiffanee Jewell, Amanda Kidd, Matthew Durbin and John Durbin; 18 great-grandchildren; one sister, Leota Haupright; six sisters-in-law, Bess Bogner, Janis (Larry) Dodd, Marion Taulbee, Shirley Taulbee, Roberta Bores and Lilian Bores; one brother-in-law, Steve (Pat) Chronister; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Terry (Hedden) Durbin, his parents, Benjamin and Alice Bores; three brothers, Danny Bores, Herbie Bores and Harold Bores and one sister, Alice Dayka.
Friends may call at Secor Funeral Home in Willard on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 from 2-4PM and 6-8 PM. Funeral service will be at the funeral home on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Noel Kidd officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Willard. I am extremely heartbroken with the passing of my Papaw! I was just home to visit him in September, because I knew he was not doing well…and it was so important to me, to see and spend time with him.
I wish more than anything in this world that it was possible for me to be there to mourn the death of one of the GREATEST men I have ever had the privilege and honor to know and to love!
I truly treasure every memory that I have of my grandfather……..he was such an Amazing man!
I want to Thank Everyone that has been able to be there for my family during this VERY difficult time.
Willard, Ohio is my home town….and Willard, Ohio will NEVER be the same with the passing of one of the main Patriarch’s that made Willard, Home.
I will miss you and your big laugh and smile. I love you Uncle John.
