John Gilbert Stacklin, age 77, resident of Bucyrus, Ohio passed away at his home on Saturday, February 4, 2017. He was born on October 12, 1939 in New Washington, Ohio to the late Gilbert M. and Catherine M. (Bechtel) Stacklin. John graduated from New Washington High School and directly went into the US Air Force. He had also worked at Swan Rubber in Bucyrus as an electrician and was a police officer for New Washington. John was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in New Washington, Knights of Columbus, and the Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his 4 children, Teresa Randall, Traci (Randy) Tuggle, John G. Stacklin, and Michelle (Dave) Slone; 17 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, James J. (Esther) Stacklin, August J. (Carol) Stacklin, Gerald T. (Rebecca) Stacklin; 3 sisters, Clarabelle T. (Victor) Kline, Ruth A. (Paul) Schimpf, Karen M. Porter; sister-in-law, Ruth E. Stacklin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by a sister, Mary Catherine Stacklin and a brother, Richard D. Stacklin.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in New Washington on Tuesday, February 7, 2016 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Funeral mass will be Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Bernard Catholic Church in New Washington with Fr. Eric Culler officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery.
