John O. Leitz, age 88, resident of Willard, passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2006 in Stein Hospice in Sandusky, Ohio. He was born on September 9, 1917 to the late John and Christabelle (Owen) Leitz and had been a resident of Willard all of his life. Mr. Leitz was a retired engineer from the B & O Railroad and a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, the K of C, Willard Elks Lodge, St. Vincent de Paul, the 55 Plus Club, former Willard Zoning Board member, Willard Historical Society, Willard Kiwanis Club, former Willard Memorial Library board member and was honored as ‘Man of the Year’ by both the Willard Jaycees and the Willard Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by four sons, James K. and Allison Leitz of Willard, John A. and Leslie Leitz of Willard, David G. and Joni R. Leitz of Willard and Mark R. and Sue Leitz of Willard; three daughters, Carol A. and James Kramer of Keystone Heights, FL, Mary C. and Ron Brown of Willard and Janet L. Breyman of Champion, OH; 18 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Carola Leitz in 2003.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard on Tuesday, June 13, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Willard with Father Stanley S. Szybka officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Willard. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, St. Francis de Paul or the Stein Hospice of Sandusky.
