Kenneth Carl Shealy, age 83, of 304 East Street, New Washington, died Sunday, March 14, 2010 at the Bucyrus Hospital. He was born August 19, 1926 in Lykens Township to the late John C. and Esther (Schimpf) Shealy. On June 3, 1951 he married Virginia Alice Suver, who preceded him in death on October 4, 2004.
Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bruce (Barbara Sawyer) Shealy of New Washington and Jay (Katherine) Shealy of Raleigh, N.C., a granddaughter, Kathryn Shealy of Washington, N.C. and a step grandson, Justin Blessing of New York City, NY. He is also survived by two brothers, Dalton (Eileen) Shealy of Bucyrus and Weldon (Vi) Shealy of Bucyrus and two sisters, Miriam (P.J.) Yaussy of Bucyrus and Doris (Kenneth) Strohm of New Washington and sister-in-law Neva Shealy. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one brother, Ivan Shealy.
Kenneth was a 1944 graduate of New Washington High School. A US Army Veteran of WWII, he served in the European Theatre and was a member of American Legion Post 405. For 28 years he was employed at the S.J. Kibler Co. and worked for 12 years at Richards Landscaping before retiring. A lifelong member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Washington, he served as a councilman and was a choir member for 38 years. He also served on the New Washington Village Council.
There will be a Memorial Service, Saturday, March 27, 2010, at 11:00 A.M. at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Washington, with Rev. Joseph Bartczak officiating. Burial will be at the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in New Washington. Military honors will be presented by the New Washington American Legion Post #405. No calling hours will be observed. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.secorfuneralhomes.com

I’m so sorry to hear about Kenneth’s passing. I have fond memories of him, especially his wedding to Virginia. It was the first wedding I ever attended and I’ve always loved the two of them for giving me – an innocent country kid – such a nice memory.
