Leland Andrew Salyer, 86, of Willard, Ohio passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at Stein Hospice in Sandusky, Ohio. He was born on September 13, 1934 in Akron, Ohio to the late Anthony and Avis (Deaver) Salyer.
Leland worked at General Electric for 23 years and then went on to work for and retire from Willard City Schools as a head custodian. In the past, he attended the Willard Church of God and most recently attended Dominion Church of Willard and his daughters church, The Salvation Army.
A hard worker all of his life, Leland enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing and was an avid reader. His love of working with children led him to volunteer at Salvation Army summer camps and was known as Grandpa to many area children.
Leland is survived by his loving wife, Helen (Blevins) Salyer, who he married on September 5, 1953; four children, Terry Salyer, Leland (Kathy) Salyer Jr., Patricia Salyer and Sherry (Terry) Patterson; eleven grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; siblings, David Salyer, James Salyer, Richard Salyer, Sam Salyer and Rose Rutledge; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Leland was preceded in death by his siblings, Marcella and John Salyer; daughter-in-law, Carol Salyer; and sisters-in-law, Martha and Faye Salyer.
