Leon D Hord, age 76, resident of Willard, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2005, in MedCentral Hospital after an extended illness. He was born on August 14, 1928, in Richmond Twp. to the late Alva Eugene and Daisy (Dawson) Hord and had been a resident of Willard all of his life. He was a member of the Richmond United Methodist Church, Co-founder and First President of the Silver Kings of Yesteryear Tractor Club, Huron County Heritage Society, Huron County Cattlemens’ Association, a former Crawford County Grange Member and an avid sports fan. He was also a US Army Veteran. He retired from Pioneer Industrial Products in Willard.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Kiess) Hord whom he wed on November 24, 1950; a son and a daughter-in-law, Randy and Cheryl (Snapp) Hord of Willard; a daughter and a son-in-law, Debbie and Michael Hollinger of Tallmadge, OH; two granddaughters, Rachel Hollinger of Columbus, OH and Arielle Hord of Willard; and a lifelong friend, Lyndel Coder of Attica. He is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard on Friday from 3-5 and 6-9 PM. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 AM at the Secor Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Burkhardt, Rev. Bob Hudberg, and Rev. Michael Hollinger officating. Burial will follow at the Bethel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, American Cancer Society, or one’s favorite charity.
