Dear Barry, Janzen, Kristin and Carol. We are so sorry to hear the loss of Bob. What a wonderful, loving, giving person he was. We had so much fun and great memories of visiting with our (3)kids to your house. And then again years later, with a bunch of Bob’s dear recon friends and wives over several days. We had such a great time! Bob didn’t want us to leave! Larry made something very special for Bob & we will be mailing it to the house. We hope you like it. From our family, Larry, Beverly, Amy, Brad, Cortney, Kara, Serenity, Xavier and Luke Josar we send our deepest sympathy & you are in our prayers. God Bless Love always

Bob, Just a little something from me!
If Tears Could…
If tears could build a stairway
And memories were a lane,
I would walk right up to heaven
To bring you home again.
No farewell words were spoken.
No time to say good-bye.
You were gone before we knew it,
And only God knows why.
Our hearts still ache in sadness
And secret tears still flow.
What it meant to lose you,
No one will ever know.
I will cherish every memory … I will miss you my friend!

Belle - Apr 30, 2012

To My Friend Carol,
In your sadness, may there be hope… In your thoughts, may there be peace… In your heart, may there be healing.
Always know that I am here whenever you just want to talk, cry, laugh or just to share whatever is going on in your life. I am but a phone call away.

Scott Smith "Doc" - Apr 29, 2012

I am very grateful to have known Bob from our days together in the Recon platoon, 2/1 Infantry, 196th LIB. At the time I joined the platoon, he was the M-60 machine gunner. He was also the first soldier I ever treated for wounds in the field. He was a rock of the platoon and I know one of the reasons we survived as we did was because of his strength and courage.
My trip to Willard several years ago with several other Recon members to celebrate July 4th with Bob and meet Carol was an absolute joy. I’ll never forget karoake at the Moose Lodge and lying in the rain during a thunderstorm at the lake.
Willard, the state of Ohio, and the USA are all a better place for the life of Bob Phipps. Rest in peace comrade. Say hello to Rookie for us and we will be together again someday.
Doc

Scott Smith - Apr 29, 2012

Carol – I am so sorry about Bob’s death at such an early age. I am just happy that he had you in his life. And that we got to see him both in DC and Willard when we did. I would just add one of my mom’s favorite passages: “God gave us memories so that we would have roses in the winter.” May you have many roses. Doc
