Marcella H. Blum, age 90, resident of Tiffin, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2006 in St. Francis Home in Tiffin. She was born on July 17, 1915 in New Washington, Ohio to the late Joseph and Anna (Mahl) Blum. She was a member of the St. Bernard Catholic Church, St. Bernard Rosary Society and St. Bernard Altar Society. She lived and worked in Cleveland from 1942 until 1982. In 1982 she retired from Family Health Association in Cleveland and moved back to New Washington to spend her retirement years. While working as a nurse, she received the Etta Creech Award for nurse of the year. She was an great nurse, who loved to care for people. She was a friend and a campanion to many. She enjoyed playing the slot machines and also cardinal birds.
She is survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Alberta Blum of New Washington and Marge and Daniel Ferrazza of Cleveland; two brothers and sister-in-laws, Raymond and Alice Blum of New Washington, and Alfred and Jane Blum of Galion; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Blum of New Washington; 19 nieces and nephews; 35 great nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Norbert G. and Francis Blum.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in New Washington on Sunday, July 2, 2006 from 4-7 PM and on Monday, July 3, 2006 from 9:30 – 10:30 AM. Funeral mass will be held on Monday, July 3, 2006 at 11:00 AM at the St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in New Washington with Father Robert Dendinger and Father Steve Blum officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery in New Washington. Memorials expressions may be made to the St. Francis Home or to the Alzheimers Association.
