Marvin L. Hershiser, age 82, resident of Willard, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at the St. Vincent’s Hospital in Toledo, Ohio He was born on November 15, 1929 in Willard, Ohio, to the late Almon and June (Hart) Hershiser. He is a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. He is an Army Veteran who served during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Irene (Steinmetz) Hershiser whom he wed on May 29, 1952; one son, Dan (Sheila) Hershiser of Willard; four daughters Kathleen (Dave) Souslin of Willard, Connie Dials of Willard, Sr. Lisa Hershiser OSF of Tiffin and Paula Barnett of Willard; two brothers, Larry (Gayle) Hershiser and David (Wanda) Hershiser of Willard; one sister, Shirley Roeder of Plymouth; eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Almon and June Hershiser and two brothers, Almon and Ronald Hershiser.
Friends may call on Sunday, June 10, 2012, from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Willard, Ohio on Monday, June 11, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. with Father Eric Culler and Fr. Melvin Verhoff officiating. Burial will be at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Willard at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to O.S.U. Cancer Research or to St. Francis Xavier. Oh my what can I say to the family that was such a big part of my younger years…I loved your Dad…and I will miss seeing that bright smile at church.. he always made sure he would talk after church to update me on the family…he loved you all…
I will remember Hurk and it hurts my heart that he has been taken away from you…love to all of you…especially Rene.
