Mary Lu Eldred, age 69, of rural Willard was called to her heavenly home on Tuesday, January 16, 2007 after a brief illness. She was born on July 21, 1937 in Willard, Ohio to the late Marion (Schlotterer) and Walter Frederick. She has been a Willard area resident her entire life. Mary Lu and her husband, Fred graduated from Willard High School in 1955. She attended Mary Manse College in Toledo, Ohio.
At the former Pioneer Rubber Company in Willard, she was employed as a secretary. Her accounting and financial skills were utilized in the family farm business. Besides caring for her brothers and sisters and immediate family, she also helped care for numerous relatives.
She enjoyed working alongside her husband on the family farm. She was an avid gardener. Also, she enjoyed cake decorating and baking. Her extensive research on family genealogy yielded many volumes of ancestral descent. She was a member of the former St. Sebastian Church, St. Sebastian Rosary Altar Society and St. Francis Study Club. She is also, a current member of St. Gaspar del Bufalo in Marywood. She was a member of the Catholic Ladies of Columbia and Propagation of Faith. She was a Farm Bureau Council member.
Mary Lu is survived by her husband, of 49 years, Fred Eldred. She is also survived by her daughter, Deborah Fritz and son-in-law, Patrick. She especially enjoyed her blessed grandchildren, Jason and Evan Fritz. She was a devoted grandmother, who enjoyed participating in their many activities. She was the oldest of six children. She is survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Walter and Judith (Kovach) Frederick of Middlesex, N.C., Dr. Joseph and Kathleen (Long) Frederick of Pemberville, Ohio, Michael and Marge (Biesiada) Frederick of Parma, Ohio, and Robert and Barbara (Rhodes) Frederick of Brookfield, Conn. and sister and brother-in-law, Ann (Frederick) and Thomas Herner of Norwalk, Ohio. She is survived by sister-in-law and spouse, Carol (Eldred) and August Stacklin of Willard, Ohio. She also enjoyed the closeness of numerous nephews and nieces.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard on Friday, January 19, 2007 from 2-4 and 6-9, where a prayer service will be held at 8:30 PM. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 20, 2007 at the St. Gaspar del Bufalo Catholic Church at 10:30 AM with Father John Nagele officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Sebastian Catholic Cemetery in Bismark, Ohio. Memorial expressions may be made to the American Heart Association, the Arthritis Foundation or to the donor’s choice.
