Mary Sartish passed at away at 97 on January 26, 2025 while she was in the loving care at Gaymont Rehabilitation Center and Hospice in Norwalk, Ohio.
Mary lived in Willard, Ohio and later in Norwalk, Ohio. She graduated from Willard High School in 1947. She retired from Midwest Industries in Willard, Ohio. She enjoyed being with her dear friends at her favorite restaurants and traveling to visit her sister Ann (Bernard) Forster in Colorado, New York, and other places where they were stationed while in the Air Force.
Although Mary never married, she is survived by many loving family members. Her nieces Constance (John) Stasikowski and Nancy (Randall) Chenevey; her great nieces Christine Loredo, Catherine Chenevey, Patricia (Benjamin) Wysong, and great nephew Richard Forster, Jr. She also has two great great nieces Sienna Loredo and Teagan Wysong along with a great great nephew Carter Wysong. Family members live in Texas, New Mexico, California, and Washington state.
Since she witnessed many decades of changes as the years progressed, Mary’s stories of the depression, World War II hardships were fascinating to listen to. Stories included the long walk to school in winter, Christmas with candles on the tree briefly lit and Halloween when she would be with friends throwing corn cobs on neighbor’s porches. She lived in a house with no electricity, no running water, and an outhouse in the backyard. She was devoted to her loving father who tenderly cared for her and her sister after their mother passed away when Mary was quite young. She was so thrilled when her brother- in- law put in a bathroom one summer visit. She was excited to finally have a real bath tub! Her joy, positive attitude, and laughter made her journey through life an adventure.
In addition to her parents Julia and Stephen Sartish, Mary was preceded in death by her sister, Ann; brother- in -law, Bernard; her nephew, Richard Forster; and members of the Vanecheck family.
Mary frequently expressed her sadness missing her dear friends and the fun they had in the years past.
It is important to thank the wonderful staff at Gaymont Rehabilitation Center in the many years of her residence there for the care as her health declined.
Burial service will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery in Willard, Ohio, on February 13, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. If you are reading, this instead of flowers send someone you love a Valentine! Aunt Mary, you will be missed. Love you.
