On December 15th, we suddenly and unexpectedly lost Mike. A beloved Son, Brother, Uncle, Brother-in-law. The world has lost a creative, kind and caring soul. Mike was born 8-28-1956 in Shelby, Ohio as the third son of James B. and Janice E. Reynolds. Mike graduated from the Plymouth High School in 1974. He developed many close and lifelong friends.

He worked early on at Shelby Spring Hinge. He recently retired after 35 years of service in the Engineering Test lab at Warren Rupp.

As a young boy, Mike enjoyed many adventures with family and friends. Little League baseball, go kart racing, slot car racing, campouts, winter firewood gathering, bicycle racing/stunts and countless hours exploring by playing at/in the creeks in the Plymouth area.

Once out of school, the thrill of adventure continued. Motorcycles (drag racing, riding, building) and his prized Mustang GT. Mikes first trip down the Norwalk quarter mile in 1978 resulted in a 10 second timeslip. An accomplishment few can claim.

Throughout the years, Mike, along with his father and brothers, continued motorcycle drag racing by participating in many IDBA and Prostar national events. He developed many additional friends and Mike took great pride in being a Reynolds Brother.

Mike had a strong passion for history and nature. He did much research (pre-internet) with immediate family and distant relatives to develop a family genealogy. He was a walking data source of family history.

He had an extensive arrowhead, stone tools, civil war artifact collection. All were proudly displayed in his home. Some were donated to him by close friends, but most were from his own findings. Mike also handcrafted many replica artifacts. You would always get an extensive oral history of each when you showed interest in the display.

From this interest in history, Mike developed a passion for Native American history and customs. He participated in many events at Malabar Farm, Mohican Pow Wows, Trader rendezvous, and school events in full regalia. Mike handcrafted all his outfits. His love of nature and wildlife was persistent in his life. Mike always had an eye on natures beauty. He was vey observant and joyous on the acts of nature. He was especially excited at any Eagles sighting. Whether at the Lake Erie marshes or especially when an Eagle visited the farm or nearby properties.

Mike had a great passion for rock music. His record collection of vinyl and stereo equipment is unrivaled. With the age of the Internet, he gained a new avenue to enjoy and share his music knowledge. Mike kept the world entertained on Saturday nights with his concert collections he would post. He was a wealth of knowledge on albums, bands, songs, band members.

Mike is survived by his mother, Janice E. Reynolds; brothers, Steve (Linda) and Larry, nephews Shawn, Scott(Kara), Landon, Liam, Lucas.

Calling hours will be Saturday, December 22, 2018 from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth, Ohio. Per Mike's wishes there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to a wildlife organization or a local nature park.

The family would like to thank Mikes first responders. The North Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department, Huron County Sheriff deputies, North Central Ambulance service, and Secor Funeral Home.

Do not stand by my grave and cry. I am not there. I did not die.

Condolences

Hi everyone. This was terrible news to hear. Mike and I spent a lot of time together, canoeing in the north woods of Minnesota and Canada, or just hiking around the family farm and drinking coffee in the woods over an open fire. Nobody could build a campfire like Mike could. I have so man great memories of Mike. He will always be one of my best friends and he will not be forgotten. My heart and prayers go out to his family. I know this was a terrible loss for all of you. If you need anything please let me know. 419-281-2603 Please leave a message if you get my answering machine.

I loved my friend. He was like a brother to me years ago. We use to write letters. I wouldn't be able to see his small print now. We use to go to the Tecumseh Outdoor Drama every year until I moved away. I twisted his arm and got him to go to my cousin-in-law's 4th grade class to educate the kids on Native Americans. Mike didn't want to talk but just bring his artifacts to show. I couldn't answer their questions, so his interest overpowered his shyness and he started talking. He took off on his own after two classes and became a total show. SO PROUD of him. He scared the daylights out of me whizzing by on his motorcycle at my parent's house. I would run to the window and see the white streak of his helmet go by. I was talking about this at my mother's funeral, in her eulogy, on the very day he died. We shared a love of history, rock and roll, and especially animals. Never was there a more gentle spirit. Love you friend, and I'll see you in the heavenly forest.

Steve, Linda and family, I'm so sorry for your loss. I remember Mike as such a kind man when I still was working at Rupps.

Sorry to hear about Mike's passing. To friends and family of Mike, I graduated with him and always got a smile or smirk from him. In my book he was an awesome individual with all the right qualities you could have. We graduated together and occasionally ran to each other every 2 or 3 years, but always had time to stop and talk. He will definitely be missed.
