Muriel M. Ackerman, age 95, former resident of New Washington, Ohio passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2007 in Fairview Manor Nursing Home in Bucyrus, Ohio. She was born on August 22, 1912 in Cranberry Twp., Crawford County, Ohio to the late David Ernest and Nora (Ulmer) Welshons and had been a New Washington resident the majority of her life. Mrs. Ackerman was a graduate of Surphur Springs High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of the New Washington United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women where she was very active. She also enjoyed sewing and quilting.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Ronald Kalb of Van Wert, OH; a son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Anita Ackerman of New Washington; five grandchildren and spouses, Tim and Angela Kalb; Kristine Kalb; Andrew and Monica Ackerman; Benjamin and Laura Ackerman; Aaron and Nancy Ackerman; and ten great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Eldon J. Ackerman in 1978; an infant son, Gary David Ackerman; one brother, Kenneth Welshons; two sisters, Lois Irwin and Thelma Welshons.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in New Washington on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11:00 AM with Reverend Gerald Kalb officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery in Surphur Springs, Ohio.
